The search for sustainability in developing countries has led to prevailing interest in the management of territories and natural resources, for which it is required to carry out previous diagnoses in terms of having full knowledge of the potential that a region may possess. This paper aims at analyzing the conservation status of the “chilligua” specie (Festuca dolichophylla) in the micro-basin of Calientes, Tacna, Peru, through the random quadrant methodology in order to estimate its spatial distribution and plant cover in this territory. With the data obtained, a mathematical modeling was performed to predict the spatial distribution and plant cover of F. dolichophylla based on the area altitude. This made possible to obtaining type models as “Exponential -2” and “Polynomic”. It was also determined that the chillihua is distributed randomly in the middle and lower zones of the Calientes micro-basin and, that spreads in the upper zone. Likewise, this specie has a moderate vegetation cover in the upper and middle zones of the micro-basin and a low vegetation cover in the lower altitude zone.
