Abstract

Background: Studies indicate that the problem of urban trees must be based on the morphological needs of the plant. Therefore, the present article aims to propose green sidewalks that can host species with a non-aggressive and easy-to-adapt root system. Methodology: A qualitative-quantitative approach as well as the observation technique wereused and applied. The sample consisted of 48 tree and bushy species from a population of 65. Likewise, the modeling method was used for the proposal of sidewalks and the comparison of species. Results: The results reveal that the physical spatial conditions of the sidewalks and the architectural environment do not respond to the morphological needs of the vegetation, which is why the use of many species is limited, reducing its use to a total of 11 plants for three sidewalk alternatives. Conclusions: As long as there is no urban tree regulation that is adapted to the morphological needs of the vegetation, it will not be possible to provide the necessary conditions so that other living beings such as trees can be part of the habitat and the urban image of the city Therefore, the benefits they provided us will be lost.
