Abstract A research with University Hospital (HUNI) nurses in the city of Sucre-Bolivia was carried out, with the objective of: identifying factors that hinder the application of the nursing process (NP) when providing nursing care to the user during clinical professional practice in 2017. The research design was: descriptive, transversal, and quantitative. The survey technique was applied using a questionnaire with a modified Likert scale. The study population consisted of: 32 nursing professionals with a bachelor's degree; who worked in the emergency services, obstetrics Gynecology, internal medicine, surgery, hemodialysis, pensioners, intensive care, pediatrics and neonatology. It was identified that the Stage of the NP with the greatest difficulty in its application is the Diagnosis and the Execution; although, nursing actions are carried out, these are not declared in adequate instruments; both stages reached a low level of applicability. However, 100% recognizes that the NP is useful and that it facilitates comprehensive care.
