Abstract

QUIROGA, Nancy. Use of ICT in the area of mathematics of the Career in Systems Engineering at the private university NUR. Rev. Cien. Tec. In. [online]. 2017, vol.14, n.15, pp.843-850. ISSN 2225-8787.

Abstract In the Engineering Systems specifically in the area of mathematics, development of materials has a traditional and classic use of teaching resources feature. This situation contradicts a little with the current technological era and which tri-fold leverage digital media offered by these new technologies. To better understand the reality of this area this investigation was to carry out a preliminary assessment on the use of ICT in some subjects such as Algebra Discrete, Linear Algebra, Calculus I and Calculus II. The sample consisted of four teachers of the subjects and 48 students of semester 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The instruments used were survey questionnaires with closed answers, semi-structured interviews and observation guide to classes. The results show that most teachers develop their classes in traditional style and classical resources and also revealed that students have a high custom in the use and management of ICT either for personal or academic activities of the university. At the end of the study it can be concluded that a shift should take place in the process of learning and teaching of the subjects according to the technological reality as you can also take advantage of the resources offered by tics to transform classes with a high dynamic, motivating sense and very beneficial for students by encouraging them collaborative and meaningful learning.
