Abstract

REJAS, Luis et al. Liquid Fuels from Wasted Plastics. Rev. Cien. Tec. In. [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.11, pp.635-642. ISSN 2225-8787.

This research was focused on the study of plastic pyrolysis process, which consists of thermal decomposition of these materials, and allows to obtain a hydrocarbon blend, called light petroleum. It can be used as an energy source. The work was made with plastic waste, which were classified into six categories: Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Polypropylene (PP), Polystyrene (PS), and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). Each category was treated separately in a batch reactor, except PVC. Each experiment measured operating temperatures, total reaction time, volume of liquid hydrocarbons obtained, product density, residual mass, and finally the performance of the liquid hydrocarbons was calculated. Wasted plastics transformed into energy help environment enormously

Keywords : Plastic Pyrolysis; Fuel from Wasted Plastics; Renouvable Energy; Environment.
