Abstract The evaluation of maturational development as an element of timely monitoring and follow-up is vital and its contributions are of great relevance for early attention in cases of significant lag, deficit or alterations throughout the development. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to determine the course of the current development of preschool children ages 4 and 5 years of a public education unit in the city of La Paz, Bolivia, in five areas: psychomotor development, development of the language, cognitive development, socio-affective development and autonomy skills. The study developed is a quantitative exploratory type, cross-sectional, with a convenience sample of 21 children, to which the Madurative Development Protocol (PDM) was applied, finding average development rates between 60% and 70% and levels of development in the socio-affective sphere and autonomy skills surrounding percentages below what was expected for optimal development.
