ABSTRACT Several psychotherapeutic methods for addictions use cognitive processes and evaluate their impact in the attainment of change for addictive behaviors. This paper addresses some of these processes and summarizes the model we use in our practice, under the assumption that recovering alcoholics utilize sobriety scripts for their behavior, and that these may be a positive determinant for their sobriety
