ABSTRACT The article presents in its first part a theoretical review on the impact of cancer in the Bolivian population, the emphasis is on the psychological interventions and their objective, the experience of pain, the explanatory models of pain and its coping, next to the concept of gaudibilidad in cancer disease, and the importance of the management and understanding ofthese psychological concepts in health care personnel. Data are also presented on an open interview health teams, which served as the basis and justification for the presentation of guidelines for two programs aimed at these teams. The first is a training program for the self and the second is a training program for strategies to optimize the services and provide a better quality of life for patients with cancer.
