This study presented an analysis of the alcohol consumption and academic performance and related risk behaviors of adolescent study samples in Bolivia, Italy and the Netherlands. We attempted to analyze the protective factors for the prevention of risky behaviors. Results showed that under certain situations protective factors may become risk factors because they increase the vulnerability of adolescents to risky behaviors. Various factors were analyzed such as academic performance, parental control regarding homework, among others. Significant differences were shown between the three countries.
