AYLLON, Virginia. Hilda Mundy, War Journalist. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2024, vol.28, n.53, pp.47-68. Epub 11-Dic-2024. ISSN 2077-3323. https://doi.org/10.35319/rcyc.2024531322.
This article is an approach to the exercise of war journalism by the journalist and writer Laura Villanueva, better known as Hilda Mundy, in order to appreciate her impressions of the Chaco War (1932-1935), about which she wrote between 1932 and 1936. The corpus to study her ideas include the pamphlet Impresiones de la Guerra del Chaco, published posthumously (1997), and three columns from Oruro newspapers in which she wrote about the war. The results indicate that Mundy recorded the war and her thoughts on the armed conflict with the ironic and iconoclastic style that has already been identified by literary critics. But in these texts about the war she includes affective elements that are new in her writing. The analysis confirms that Mundy was an avant-garde writer who developed an anarchist project in her writing that has war (and the city, women, writing) as its central issues.
