Abstract

AGRAMONT, Natalia et al. Osmotic Fragility and its Relationship with Space Anemia. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.51, pp.91-106.  Epub Dec 20, 2023. ISSN 2077-3323.  https://doi.org/10.35319/rcyc.2023511207.

The following article shows the procedure needed to make a fragility osmotic curve, which is a test made to identify the behavior of erythrocytes at different concentrations of NaCl (hypotonic solution). This test is realized with anemic people, and it lets us identify the fragility of the erythrocytes. It can also be applied in astronauts who also suffer from space anemia produced by the different conditions of the new environment that they are exposed to. Nevertheless, the causes of this illness have not been identified, hence the team suggests this is caused by hypergravity which astronauts are exposed to in the moment they are launched to space.

Keywords : Osmostic fragility; hypergravity; spatial anaemia; red blood cells.
