A very important part of the Bolivian youth is linked to Bolivia’s intangible heritage through folklore and through their participation in Bolivian collective festivities, as actors or spectators.
Many of these young people are university students from all the universities in the country, a phenomenon that is especially evident in the university folkloric entries, but also in other popular festivities.
This phenomenon emerged in the late 1970s, grew in the 1980s and multiplied since the 1990s. College youth folk cultures are not just a fad but a long-lasting movement. That is why the university entries are considered Bolivia’s living and intangible heritage. The folkloric youth are one of the main living protagonists for the safeguarding of our folkloric heritage.
