Resumen

COMBES, Isabelle. Indigenous history in Santa Cruz: Uses, Abuse and Lessons Learned. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2022, vol.26, n.48, pp.197-212.  Epub 01-Jun-2022. ISSN 2077-3323.

Long forgotten or even scorned, indigenous history has begun to gain a strong foothold in Santa Cruz de la Sierra during the last decades. However, this regional history is often the object of an ideological instrumentalisation that "shreds" the past in order to oppose a "Camba" or Eastern identity with an Andean one. On the contrary, professional research reveals the ethnic diversity of Santa Cruz, its significant links with neighbouring regions and countries, and the shared history between several indigenous peoples and Creoles, which constitute the true cultural and historical richness of the region.

Palabras clave : Indigenous history; Santa Cruz; Regionalism; Bolivia.
