Abstract

With the aim of contributing to the history of ideas in Santa Cruz, the essay discusses two thinkers. Thus, on the one hand, we consider the work and importance of Manfredo Kempff Mercado, the most important Santa Cruz philosopher of the 20th century, an author who, despite dying almost 50 years ago and, furthermore, having a short life, continues to be valued by specialists of Latin American thought. On the other hand, we highlight the intellectual contribution of Sergio Antelo Gutiérrez, whose articles and books were relevant for, beginning the new century, discussing the viability of the state order. In both cases, it is worth highlighting the exercise of critical reason.
