Abstract

From a historical and architectural perspective, the paper aims to examine the cathedral of Santiago de Chile and La Paz, Bolivia, in order to comprehend their religious heritage importance during a crucial period between 1835 and 1932, crossed by some of the most significant architectural interventions made in both buildings. Based on a comparative method, the work aims to identify similarities and differences in each case, considering urban transformations carried out during the Republican Centenary celebrations.
