Resumen

YAPU, Mario  y  APAZA O., Edgar. Young university students, new technologies and inequality. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2021, vol.25, n.46, pp.11-38. ISSN 2077-3323.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the social and economic characteristics of young university students in relation to internet access and the capacities they have in the use of technological resources, in the context of the development of distance “virtual courses”. The interest arose from the discourses and contradictory facts that are currently perceived, since, on the one hand, it seems that young people -digital natives- do not present difficulties in front of those courses and, on the other, the increase in university enrollment hides the inequalities between students, made visible by the closure of face-to-face courses. The article is based on a survey applied to Sociology students at the San Francisco Xavier University (USFX) in Chuquisaca.

Palabras clave : University; higher education students; young people; technologies; inequalities; virtual education; sociology.
