Abstract

ECHAZU CONITZER, Alejandra. Textiles: Táctil Sign, Memory and Orality. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.45, pp.185-219. ISSN 2077-3323.

This essay focuses on Andean textiles, writing, orality and mnemonic resources in the cosmovisión and in everyday activities, questioning the authority of the “verbal-writing” as well as logocentrism through semasiography. Textiles, tocapus, and quipus are examined as metonyms form a living culture. There is also a symbiosis between the textile and the oral world in the paradigmatic texts of Guamán Poma and Santa Cruz Pachacuti Yamqui.

Keywords : Andean textiles; written world; orality; semasiography; ethnohistory; tocapu.
