Abstract

MOSCOSO BARRIO, Macarena. Weaving on Stage: Backstage and Assembly of Weaving Centers for Tourists of Chinchero, Cuzco. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.45, pp.157-183. ISSN 2077-3323.

Chinchero is one of the entrances to the route of tourist attractions in Cuzco region. This implies that influx of tourists is very important in this area and has impacted on inhabitants' lives. Predominance of weaving centers in Chinchero is striking, these centers are venues dedicated to the demonstration and sale of local textiles where their most relevant characteristic is that visitors approaches to the weaving technique in a sensorial way. The purpose of the following article is to analyze Chinchero’s weaving centers as a stage: backstage is composed of a network of asymmetric relationships based on ceremonial kinship and staging is designed to produce and show a certain authenticity ethnic.
