Abstract

POZZI-ESCOT, Rustha Luna. Participatory Textile Incursions in the Artistic Field. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.45, pp.13-41. ISSN 2077-3323.

This essay explores participatory artistic practices in which textiles find a unique place. The textile has accompanied the human being through the centuries, from the creation of its habitat to that of its clothing in its many facets, and has become an element of symbolic connection that reveals, in its physical and millenary qualities, a own language, capable of receiving new forms and readings in a constant dialogue with the “other”. After analyzing some artistic proposals, it will be seen how the different ways of using textiles as an intermediary between the viewer and the artist turn it into an interactive space.

Keywords : participatory art; textile; spectator; collaborative artistic practices; weaving.
