Abstract

PORCARO, Tania. Ways of value, Tour and Photograph the Argentinian-Bolivian Border from Tourism (XX and XXI Centuries). Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.44, pp.175-215. ISSN 2077-3323.

The aim of this paper is to analyze how tourist valorization processes (re)constructed the Argentinian-Bolivian border, since the beginning of XX century to the present days. It examines the relationship between some forms of attractiveness, the network of roads and tourist centers, as well as as the representations and narratives that tourism spread at each moment. Three main periods were identified, according to the contrasts observed in the valorization processes. The different ways of touring, photographing and admiring this border over time, intensely took part in the production and reproduction of the dominant performances and senses from each period.

Keywords : Border; tourism; attractiveness; representation; Argentina; Bolivia.
