Abstract

GONZALEZ, Natividad  and  BERGESIO, Liliana. Tensions and Socio-Economic Flows on the Argentinian-Bolivian Border: the Case of the Bi-national Andean Camels Fair and the Manka Festivity. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.44, pp.147-173. ISSN 2077-3323.

The fairs at the Argentinian-Bolivian border have many examples, among them the Bi-national andean camels fair and the Manka Festivity. The former was a political purpose project -as the legal habilitation of a border crossing pass- which had the fair as a way to make it visible. The second is a secular encounter, where people from center/south Bolivia and northeast Argentina gather together annually. Here we seek to compare both processes, based on our own ethnographic records, in order to focalize on led the first one to cease, and the second to remain, considering the history and characteristics of state's borders and andean peasant fairs.

Keywords : Border; country-side fairs; Bolivia-Argentina; State; Multidimensional relationships.
