Abstract

VERDESOTO ARDAYA, Fernanda. The Pictorial and Poetic Monster: Insurrection and Avant-garde in Author Luis Luksic. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2019, vol.23, n.43, pp.79-97. ISSN 2077-3323.

Research concentrating on the first poetic phase of Bolivian poet, painter, storyteller, puppeteer, and political militant Luis Luksic (Potosí, 1911 - Caracas, 1988). The aim is to interrelate the poetry books Cantos de la ciudad y el mundo (1948) and Cuatro poemas y ocho dibujos (1958), with the pictorial painting of Luksic in this period of his artistic production. Luksic's painting (including everything from individual works to illustrations of books and album covers) has an interconnection with poetry, demonstrating that the no-tion of avant-garde is an unresolved crisis that however feeds from hybrids of opposites, thus demolishing all order and parameters. The research shows that there is a two-headed "monster" in what is avant-garde: the revolution that is political-of groups-communitarian-colorful and the political-personal-psychological-surrealist revolution.

Keywords : Luksic; avant-garde; vanguard; poetry; painting; revolution; hybridization.
