ALIAGA MOLLINEDO, Pedro Gonzalo. Indianism Week and the Workings of Bolivian Nationalism in the First Third of the 20th Century. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2019, vol.23, n.42, pp.207-226. ISSN 2077-3323.

Indianism week was political-cultural activity carried out in 1931 in a context in which there was intense debate in Bolivia regarding forms for including the Indian population in the citizenry and the national State. In practice, however, it consisted of a tribute to what is Indian merely as folklore, having little or nothing to do with Indians as historical actors of a collectivity. The activity thus dealt more with evoking a distant Indian past than dealing with its pre-sent. Research indicates that Indianism week did not constitute an attempt towards dialogue on the part of the elite, but rather a form of appropriation of indigenous aesthetics, the dynamics of which would consolidate indigenismo as a depiction.
