Abstract

CAJIAS DE LA VEGA, Fernando. 1970 was our '68. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2018, vol.22, n.40, pp.129-140. ISSN 2077-3323.

Personal essay-type recollection of the political, social and cultural process occurring in the sixties in Bolivia, particularly in the city of La Paz. The author describes the prevailing conditions. Some influential international events discussed are the 1968 student uprising in France, the Vietnam War, the Cold War and the Cuban Revolution. Among the national events reminisced are the military dictatorships, the Ñancahuazú and Teoponte guerrilla groups and the 1970 University Revolution. He concludes that the political events that took place in Bolivia had a larger impact than the international ones in the cultural and social change in the country.
