Abstract

VELARDE ROSSO, Jorge. Brief history of the Soviet Union in the centennial of the Russian Revolution. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2017, vol.21, n.38, pp.85-120. ISSN 2077-3323.

The paper presents an investigation into the history of the Soviet Union, emphasizing how institutionalized terror and state violence were both necessary requirements for the subsistence of the socialist regime and the cause of its ending. The analysis covers all phases of this historical process, from the consolidation of the Soviet state in the 1920s to its final collapse, in the 80's, through the processes of opening, reform and economic stagnation.
