NAHUEL MARTIN, Facundo. The Two Philosophies of Adorno's History. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2017, vol.21, n.38, pp.33-56. ISSN 2077-3323.
In this paper I will readdress the debate (much present in secondary bibliography) on Th. W. Adorno's philosophy of history, specially regarding the importance of his History and Freedom Lectures. From a detailed analysis of this work, I will claim that Adorno tries to sintesize two philosophies of history. One is based on traditional Marxism's idea of progress, while the other is based on Benjamin's notion of history as continuous catastrophe. These readings are difficult to compatibilize with each other, which leads to the commonly referred to "pessimism" of Adorno.
