Abstract

The article is devoted to trace in colonial sources the protagonists, both religious and secular, of the construction of the five main Franciscan temples and convents of the colonial Charcas, now Bolivia, and which in terms of ecclesial jurisdiction belonged to the Province of San Antonio Of the Charcas. The temples are the Convent of San Antonio in Potosí, the Convent of Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles de La Paz, the Convent of Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles in Tarija and the convents of the Purísima Concepción and La Recoleta in the city of Sucre. The research also follows up the process of modifications that throughout the subsequent history suffered for various reasons these religious constructions, the same that give them their current characteristics.
