Abstract

The life and work of writer Sergio Suarez Figueroa (Uruguay, 1924-La Paz, 1968) is still a mystery in the world of Bolivian and Latin American literary criticism. The following text intends to clarify the most relevant biographi-cal and bibliographical data in order to contribute study important part of Bolivian history literature. The text delves into the poet's family archive and complements the path with data obtained from magazines and newspapers of that time. The assembling of the data displayed in this text help to visualize the life journey of Sergio Suarez Figueroa -from his childhood to his death-, although focusing primarily on his artistic vocation developed upon his arrival in Bolivia in 1944. As a result, generally ambiguous data surrounding the life and work of this poet are clarifled and repaired. The research is part of the labor of recovery and the upcoming edition of the complete works of Sergio Suarez Figueroa.
