Abstract

VERA ZEGARRA, Mircko. Implications of the race category in the formalization of policies against inequality. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.37, pp.45-58. ISSN 2077-3323.

Besides the numerous institutional efforts to combat the discrimination regarding inequality, it is a consistent task to consider the approach, objectives and, inevitable, results regarding the topic. Exactly because of this, it is unavoidable to ignore the ambit that causes more than one complication: racism. Although its presence in social interactions might be completely obvious, it is an academically controversial concept, since the decrease of its attributes does not provide strong bases to include them in formal legislations and policies. It is exactly this controversy the article wishes to put up to discussion, in the attempt to verify the theoretical and practical consequences of the concept of racism and the relative perception of the racist-considered interaction.

Keywords : Public culture; racism; discrimination; social inequality; public politics.
