Abstract

FRANCO ORTEGA, Mabel. The fish is watching at himself. The National Theater with perspective. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.36, pp.169-190. ISSN 2077-3323.

This is a critical essay on Bolivian Theater identity and its development along the last half century. Assuming this identity as problematic, the author poses three hypothesis: 1) the unavoidable imperative of this theater development between its own paradigms and the ones coming from other countries theater; 2) lack of professionalism and institutional precariousness, which are gradually overcoming, are not decisive nor will ensure the production quality; 3) using the fish in the water as the image, she argues contemporary theater is overcoming that false dichotomy between what belongs and what comes from outside.
