Abstract

GRACIA LANDAETA, Óscar  and  LAGUNA TAPIA, Andrés. Half a century of Jorge Sanjinés: A review of Bolivian society and cinema through the films of the author. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.36, pp.105-134. ISSN 2077-3323.

The article reviews the major works of Jorge Sanjinés film career and its relationship with the processes of evolution of Bolivian people as a collective marginalized in search of emancipation. Thus, from Ukamau (1966), the paper develops a comprehensive analysis of the deep relationship between cinema and social processes. On the other hand, apart from the œuvre-society synchrony, the work also envisions the deployment of the "essence" of Sanjinés filmmaking, which, through its development, is consolidate as a genuine political expression of the liberation process.
