This article goes over and analyses the development of University Theater in Bolivia as well as the roll it accomplished related to the general theatrical activities and to the country's sociocultural and political context. The author compares the student theatre boom lived in the XXI century first decade with the theatre laid in the previous decades of the XXth century. On the other hand, she reviews the roll of universities as sponsor of university theatre and concludes wondering why, in spite of the acknowledged importance of this art form, universities in Bolivia didn't underwent from workshops to a theater academic career.
