MERCADO V., Martín. Critical Studies on Juan de la Rosa (1885) over the last half century. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2014, vol.18, n.33, pp.39-79. ISSN 2077-3323.

This article reviews the critical interpretations accomplished over Juan de la Rosa, Memories of the Independence War last Soldier (1885). The purpose is to acknowledge the different appraisals literary criticism has offered on this novel, mostly through the last fifty years. After a brief presentation of the novel, the author exposes relevant contributions of the critical tradition since 1953-1966 to this date, so the expositive criterion is chronological. The article concludes with a brief appraisal of the coincidences and of the problems opened by these literary criticism.
