This work starts with the premise that the aymara people had developed along hundreds of years a highly complex knowledge about the flora and fauna in the highlands. The author establishes the basis for a catalog of plants and animals of the Andean ecosystem, benefiting from the huge information provided in Ludovico Bertonio’s Vocabulario de la Lengva Aymara. He determines specific semantic fields, and over this principle he offers the flora and the fauna catalogs.
