Abstract

CERRON-PALOMINO, Rodolfo. 150 years of Aimaran studies: between Mercier y Guzmán and Bertonio. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2012, n.28, pp.63-85. ISSN 2077-3323.

This article studies the work of Francisco Mercier y Guzmán, Jesuit priest, in order to establish how he faced his analysis of the aimara language. Inevitably, the critic perspective he has towards Bertonio’s work is observed. The author states that, in spite of this exaggerated position towards his predecessor, the studies of this Jesuit researcher had worthy contributed to today’s comprehension of aimara grammar describing and analyzing such contributions.

Keywords : Aimara; Mercier y Guzmán; Bertonio, grammar.
