Resumen

CORONADO, Cristian. Past, present and future of ethnic parties in Bolivia. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2011, n.26, pp.169-183. ISSN 2077-3323.

the emergence of ethnic political parties is due to an interest of reviewing the Republican State and attempting to give a voice to the indigenous subject or to politically represent their long-term postponed demands. there have already been attempts to clarify a definition on ethnic parties, even in the Latin-American studies field. this paper pretends to contribute on the Bolivian case, emphasizing the hegemonic role played by Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) in relation to the current political parties system. Without intending an inepth study, considerations are given as basic clues that following investigations could either confirm or discard.

Palabras clave : political parties; party systems; indigenous movements; katarism; Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS).
