VELARDE ROSSO, Jorge Eduardo. Church, religion, State in the government of Evo Morales. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2011, n.26, pp.129-144. ISSN 2077-3323.
The Christian principle for Church-State relations was set up by Jesus answer: “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and unto God the things that are God’s”. Other ways religious power dissolves within political power, so this statement brought a radical change in politics. Political legitimacy derives from ruler’s mediation between God and common man. In general, political power tends to get an absolute legitimacy for his religious, ideological or scientific decisions. Evo Morales’ government is not an exception and that is why it could be described as a political religion.
