Abstract

VARGAS DEL CARPIO RIBERT, Oscar. Vote, occupation and middle class: support to Evo Morales. Rev Cien Cult [online]. 2011, n.26, pp.83-91. ISSN 2077-3323.

There is a sustained controversy in the political sciences about the relations between structural social variables, that is to say, the social classes and the electoral response in a determined  country. this theoretical reflection allows the author to analyze the electoral response of three labor sectors in two general elections in Bolivia: 2005 and 2009. Observations lead to the conclusion that the middle classes have withdrawn their support to the governmental party due both to symbolic aspects as well as to objective economic aspects.

Keywords : social class; vote; middle class; Evo Morales’ government.
