This paper aims to see how the poet´s image is related to the introduction of colloquial registers, close to spoken utterances, and the possibilities this convergence opens for the inscription of history (story) in the poem. Works of Oliverio Girondo, Salomón de la Selva and Nicanor Parra, placed within the cultural context tradition of XXth century avant-garde, are critically addressed. Finally, this article draws possible lines where this issue can be amplified and deepened in some works of subsequent Latin-American poetry
