Abstract

CABRERA MOGRO, Carmen Daniela  and  APONTE-DAZA, Vaneska Cindy. CASE STUDY OF A PATIENT WITH POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION FROM SOLUTION-FOCUSED THERAPY. Ajayu [online]. 2024, vol.22, n.2, pp.168-180.  Epub Aug 31, 2024. ISSN 2077-2161.  https://doi.org/10.35319/ajayu.222268.

Motherhood is a stage generally conceived as a positive facet for women. However, a large percentage of women experience alterations in their mood, characterized by episodes of melancholy or sadness. These episodes occur between two and four days after delivery and usually disappear after two or three weeks. If the symptoms persist, it can lead to postpartum depression, affecting sleep, generating excessive tiredness, affecting the loss of libido and producing catastrophic and anxious thoughts about the baby. This article shows the symptoms of a 34-year-old patient, whose reason for consultation was postpartum depression. Five sessions were held, and the study includes the diagnosis and approach to psychological intervention to calm suffering during the stage of motherhood.

Keywords : Baby blues; maternity blues; melancholy; sadness; postpartum depression; motherhood.
