Abstract

PAIVA SUBIETA, Estefania  and  URRIOLAGOITIA MENDEZ, Gabriela. A reading about the masculine position at present from the point of view of Lacanian-oriented psychoanalysis. Ajayu [online]. 2024, vol.22, n.1, pp.82-95.  Epub Mar 31, 2024. ISSN 2077-2161.  https://doi.org/10.35319/ajayu.221259.

This research begins with a socio-historical contextualization of masculinity in the West to then situate the background of alternative masculinities. Following a structured, basic and documentary methodology, a reading is made from Lacanian psychoanalysis to understand what the masculine position is today. The main purpose is to understand what masculinity is, the difficulties it goes through and the constitution of alternative masculinities through a clinical approach that allows us to think of the masculine as a sexual position that results from an unconscious subjective work. This implies an ordering of the way of jouissance of the bodies. The main conclusions indicate that currently there is no longer a masculine universal, but rather, following the feminine logic of not-all, there is a proliferation of masculinities. Each man is choosing to obtain his own jouissance, to build his own model of masculinity and this entails the responsibility and the challenge of singularly building his solution in relation to the phallus; account for his sexual position following a one-by-one logic and find a possible arrangement with his jouissance from the signifiers he find in contemporary discourse.

Keywords : sexual position; jouissance; masculine universal; phallic function.
