Abstract

ILLANES, Manuel  and  REYES-ARGANDONA, Cinthia. Influence of binaural beats on the levels of virtual reality induced stress measured by eeg and ecg. Ajayu [online]. 2023, vol.21, n.1, pp.91-110.  Epub Mar 31, 2023. ISSN 2077-2161.  https://doi.org/10.35319/ajayu.211244.

The present research aimed to determine if alpha binaural beats reduce stress levels induced by a virtual reality situation in comparison with a control group in a sample of university students. The sample was non-probabilistic and had a total of 32 participants between 18 and 28 years of age, who were university students from the city of La Paz, Bolivia. They were randomly divided into two groups with a total of 16 students in each group. The experimental group listened to the binaural pulses, while the control group listened to the control sound, obtaining as data the Electrocardiogram and Electroencephalogram signals, in addition to the responses of the Self-Assessment Manikin (SAM) to know their emotional perceptions with respect to the stimuli. Two stress-related classification models were also developed with Machine Learning. The results showed no significant differences between the two groups.
