Compulsive and continuous use of methamphetamine can cause a certain functional disorder of neuropsychological processes, especially, of the executive functions, language, memory, orientation, concentration and attention. The aim of the investigation has been to verify the existence of cognitively significant manifestations, between groups, and the influence of emotional states and personality traits in these possible changes. Regarding its method, this has been descriptive and comparative study, with a quantitative approach, with the participation of 87 people, evenly divided into three groups: user group (G1), group of users in abstinence (G2), and non-user group (G3); evaluated in the neuropsychological field (NEUROPSI), and dimensions of: personality (NEO-FFI) and emotional regulation (DASS-21).

Statistically significant alterations were verified between consumers and abstainers, when compared with the control group, as well as, between the same groups of consumers and abstainers. And a significant influence on cognitive processing, due to emotional manifestations and personality traits. Among other findings, it can be mentioned that high levels of stress and anxiety affect the management of executive functions by 30%.
