Abstract

ALANEZ, Darlin et al. VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN THE UNIVERSITY CONTEXT. Ajayu [online]. 2021, vol.19, n.2, pp.316-349. ISSN 2077-2161.

The purpose of the research was to generate knowledge about how violence against female students is reproduced in the university space. It was carried out with a non-probabilistic sample made up of 834 female participants. The age of the respondents ranged between 17 and 55 years (M = 21.9; SD = 3.60); and the majority (84.8%; n = 707) stated that they lived with their parents. The sample included the participation of undergraduate, graduate and former students from various faculties in five cities of Bolivia. The findings show that in the university space manifestations of violence against women are identified, mainly by male teachers and students; that the prevalence of its occurrence increases in the crowded spaces of the University and that the institutional response to the reduction of violence has not yet been clearly identified. The findings provide guidance on the need for a more forceful and massively communicated institutional response to be able to turn the university context into a safe and equitable environment for women.
