Resumen

APONTE, Cindy et al. MARITAL SATISFACTION AND RISK OF VIOLENCE IN COUPLES DURING THE QUARANTINE BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN BOLIVIA. Ajayu [online]. 2020, vol.18, n.2, pp.416-457. ISSN 2077-2161.

During the quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, cases of domestic violence increased in Latin America and particularly in Bolivia. This research deals with the relationship between marital satisfaction and the risk of violence from the perspective of one of the spouses before and during isolation. 653 people from 8 departments of the country, except Pando, were surveyed via Google Forms ©. The sample was made up of women and men from 20 to 74 years old, married couples and in free union were considered. A significant negative correlation was found between the marital satisfaction variable and the risk of violence variable. Couples satisfied before quarantine maintained or increased their satisfaction levels. Couples prone to violence increased their risk during quarantine. Couples are more dissatisfied in the structural and boundary elements than in the emotional, sexual and interactional aspects. Coexistence time is relevant for marital satisfaction; middle-aged people tend to higher levels compared to the rest of the groups. The presence of children is related to satisfaction with emotional aspects and interaction. The risk of violence is not related to the condition of the house. Violence is not a problem exclusive to one of the genres, both are subject to vulnerability to the aggression of their partner, however, the risk is higher for women.

Palabras clave : Marital satisfaction; risk of violence; domestic violence; couple relationships; quarantine.
