Abstract

ALVAREZ-CABRERA, Percy L.; CHACON-FUERTES, Fernando  and  SANCHEZ-MORENO, Esteban. BURNOUT SYNDROME AND JOB SATISFACTION IN PRISON OFFICERS OF ARICA-CHILE. Ajayu [online]. 2019, vol.17, n.1, pp.51-76. ISSN 2077-2161.

The present study analyzes the syndrome of being burned or Burnout syndrome and and Job satisfaction in prison officers. The population is constituted by all the prison officers of the Arica and Parinacota Region (N = 334). Of these, 44 did not participate in the study (medical leave, vacation or special permit, transfer in progress or similar). The final number of participants was 290 participants. The instruments used were the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS) and the Labor Satisfaction Questionnaire S20 / 23. The results show that officials burned for their work feel just as satisfied as those not burned or without SBO. On the other hand, participants who show high levels of job satisfaction in their work, are more personally made, unlike those who have low satisfaction, because they are more emotionally depleted and depersonalized with their work. Prison officers who are most satisfied with the formal general, that is, with greater intrinsic satisfaction and with supervision, are less burned.

Keywords : Burnout; correctional officers; work satisfaction; prison officials.
