Resumen

ROTH UNZUETA, Eric  y  ACOSTA VILLEGAS, Bianca. WILLINGNESS TO BRIBE: CONTEXTUAL INFLUENCES AND COGNITIVE IMPLICATIONS OF CORRUPT BEHAVIOR. Ajayu [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.1, pp.60-81. ISSN 2077-2161.

This research studied the disposition to offer bribes from a contextual perspective, presenting to participants (N = 300, with an age mean of 21.23 and a SD of 2.11), university students of both sexes, residents of two Bolivian cities, a questionnaire Likert-type reproducing different scenarios. The results showed that the willingness to offer bribes is expressed with different forces depending on the context in which it is presented, mainly due to the need for outcome. In addition, certain socio-demographic variables (religion creed and ethnical origin) interacted with the context, gaining predictive value for that provision. Likewise, research showed that circumstances that favor bribery also facilitate the momentary disengagement of the norms and principles, which govern the moral behavior. Finally, it became evident that having values that guide individuals toward the pursuit of power and pleasure are predictors of corrupt behavior.

Palabras clave : Corrupt behavior; Contextual analysis; Willingness to bribe.
