The aim of this study is to reflect on the theory hitherto knowned in relation to what we have called SELECTIVE ANEMPATHY. It is a completely new concept in the field of mental health, which must be clearly differentiated from the integrated or subclinical psychopathy and refers basically to the absence of empathy in the close interpersonal relationship, however, it is selective because it does feel empathy in situations or with certain people. Methods. Data collection was conducted from February to September 2016 with 182 people aged 18 to 45 years, of which 124 were women and 58 men. The diagnostic tool was the clinical interview. Results. anempathy concept, etiology, classification and percentages of cases defined in this Article according to the anempathy categories found. Conclusions. The concept of anempathy selective allows otherwise understand interpersonal Relationships nearby, offering another theoretical framework and new guidelines for intervention in psychotherapy.
