Abstract

The objective of this research was to apply the solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) to the case of a young woman diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. For this case study of a young 24-year-old we were used diagnosed about a month ago regarding the initiation of therapy. They were carried out five therapy sessions, in which own techniques SFBT were used such as the search for exceptions, flattery and praise, the miracle question, the empty chair, outsourcing, rating scales of improvement, including some were found to be effective in therapy. The results showed the evolution and improvement that was taking the patient during therapy sessions, which allowed it to acquire, strengthen and adjust their resources for coping with their situation and thus strengthen their capacity and self-esteem resilience. Therefore through this case we conclude that the practice supports and validates the theoretical concepts of this therapeutic approach, so it is expected that future may become the basis of a model of comprehensive care for this population group requires.
