This research was intended to study the perception of both needs and social climate of a coastal community affected by the earthquake and tsunami lived in Chile in February 2010. Information collection techniques used in this study were five semi-structured interviews and a group interview. In total 11 people participated, two men and nine woman between 31 and 81 years. The Corpus were analyzed through sofware NVivo 8 following the steps of the ground theory. Among the main individual effects observed the accentuated fears experience can be noticed, whereas from the social side the interdependence experience among affected people and the increment of group belonging are highlighted. Implications of these changes are analyzed in order to comprehend the psychosocial processes experienced by communities affected by disasters.
